Anti Wrinkle
Repetitive facial movement and expressions causes lines and wrinkles to appear on the face, especially with age. Anti Wrinkle treatment is a muscle relaxant, which works by relaxing the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. It is both a reliable and effective way to reduce wrinkles non-surgically.
As BTX temporarily weakens muscles, it is useful in the treatment of wrinkles, in particular dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movement). BTX reduces, and can even prevent, dynamic wrinkles. However, BTX cannot make static wrinkles (fine lines and wrinkles caused by loss of skin elasticity) disappear, but can be used to help prevent them from becoming worse.
BTX can be used to treat the following wrinkles:
● Frown lines ● Forehead furrows ● Crow's feet ● Smoker lines ● Downturned mouths ● Chin dimpling
BTX is administered via injection with a very fine needle into the muscle responsible for the wrinkle. The procedure will last 5-15 minutes, depending on your individual needs, and it is possible to leave the clinic immediately after the procedure. Topical anesthetic will be applied prior to the procedure. Most clients find that they are able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
Immediately after the procedure it is not unusual to experience swelling at the injection site, slight redness of the treatment area and some residual pain.
Some patients will sometimes find that they experience a mild headache after the BTX treatment. It is important to only take Paracetamol, if this should occur, as aspirin, ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatories may increase bruising.
Any tiny marks or bumps resulting from the procedure will disappear a few hours following treatment.
There is also a small risk of bruising following the procedure. This is not a cause for concern as it is only temporary and can be covered with mineral makeup, preferably Lycogel, without adverse effect.
BTX injections are the most common non-surgical procedure worldwide and have been administered for over thirty years without any known long-term problems. BTX is generally well tolerated and safe for most people with little downtime. The most common side effects are mild and serious adverse effects are rare.
The main side effects of BTX include:
● Pain and redness at the injection site ● Dry mouth ● Discomfort and pain at the injection site ● Tiredness ● Headache ● Unintended temporary weakness of muscles next to the injection site ● Bruising
After having BTX injections, it is advisable to follow our aftercare instructions in order to receive the best results possible and to reduce the risk of complications.
Following Botox injections:
● You should avoid any activities which increase blood flow to the face following the procedure, for example; bending over, exercise and drinking alcohol. ● You should avoid any strenuous activity and avoid lying down flat for 6 hours after treatment ● Avoid excessive facial movement, such as laughing and crying for 24 hours following treatment ● Avoid rubbing or massaging the muscles for 24 hours after treatment ● Avoid having a facial for 24 hours after treatment ● Avoid the use of saunas, hot tubs and tanning beds for 6 hours following treatment ● Some patients experience a mild headache after BTX injections. It is important to only take Paracetamol, if this should occur, as aspirin, ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatories may increase bruising.
Despite BTX being proven as a safe anti-ageing treatment, the aesthetic use of BTX injections is contraindicated in some individuals.
You should not consider having BTX injections if:
● You are hypersensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients present in the BTX injections ● You have had any problems with BTX injections in the past ● You suffer from a muscle disorder involving all your muscles, for example, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome ● You suffer from a disorder which disrupts the normal interaction between nerves and muscles (peripheral neuromuscular dysfunction) ● You suffer from swallowing difficulties ● You suffer from HIV ● You are pregnant ● You are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed ● You suffer from overall poor health
